A little history of the Oak Wine Barrel

Typically there are three kinds of Oak used for making wine, one in North America known as white oak, and others in France more known as common oak. The common oak from France is the best of the oak and most expensive. Wine is aged in barrels from 1 – 4 years depending on the varietal of the wine the wine maker is looking for.
